Rocky Pines Community Centre Lower Nicola Indian Band

The Community Centre is located on Lower Nicola Indian Band land, set atop the crest of a hill in a pine forest, and bordered by a beautiful mountainous valley in the Rocky Pines community.  The building is designed to serve its 400 inhabitants with a large multi-functional space, which can host a variety of community events such as: dinners, presentations, workshops and movie nights.  Also available are important core community functions such as a library, convenience store, meeting room, kitchen and coin operated laundry.  

The structure is constructed using mass timber elements such as glue laminated beams/purlins, as well as a nail laminated timber roof deck.  The local pine wood species is utilized throughout the design as interior wood cladding, ceilings, doors & trims; allowing the architecture to have a strong connection to the landscape and to local band members who will use the building on a daily basis.
