Private Whistler Chalet Whistler, BC

Info

The chalet was designed to cascade down the steep mountainside in harmony with the natural topography.

The 100% wood and engineered wood structure is designed as a repetition of a minimal number of pre-fabricated building components framing up the vertical supports and floors. The skeleton frame is enveloped on the north side by a repetition of identical pre-manufactured wood panels offset at intervals to invite the sun in on its daily path, and to allow views out to the surrounding mountain peaks. The south and parts of the east and west sides are enclosed by extensive glazing to maximize the potential of heat gain by exposure to the sun, controlled by large overhangs and automatic, mechanically operated, louvers.
